How to make an audio QR code
Create a QR code that plays audio when scanned. It takes less than two minutes with Chirp.QR, and the person scanning doesn't need any app to listen.
Download Chirp.QR
Chirp.QR is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. No account needed — just open the app and you're ready to record.
Record your audio
Tap the Record tab and start recording. The bird character sings along while a live waveform shows your audio levels. Record a reading, a story, a greeting, a set of instructions — whatever you need.
Preview and upload
After recording, use the play button to preview your audio. When you're ready, tap the QR code icon to upload. You'll be asked for an optional caption — a title or description that helps you organize your recordings in the library.
Get your QR code
Your audio is uploaded and a unique QR code is generated and saved directly to your camera roll. That's it — the QR code image is ready to use.
You can also find all your QR codes in the Library tab, where you can re-download them, edit captions, check scan counts, play back the audio, or delete entries.
Share it anywhere
Print the QR code, stick it on a card, embed it in a document, put it on a poster, or send it in a chat. When someone scans it with their phone camera, the audio plays instantly in their browser.
No app download, no sign-up, no friction — they scan, they listen.
What happens when someone scans your QR code?
The QR code contains a link to chirpqr.com. When scanned, the listener's browser opens and the audio plays automatically. That's all there is to it.
- No app needed — works in any mobile browser
- No account needed — the listener doesn't sign up for anything
- No data collected — we don't track or identify listeners
- Works on any phone — iPhone, Android, any device with a camera and browser

The Library tab keeps track of all your uploaded audio QR codes. From here you can:
- Play back any recording
- Edit or add captions
- Re-download the QR code to your camera roll
- See how many times each QR code has been scanned
- See how many days are left before expiry
- Delete recordings you no longer need
